A sleepy thought

Sometime it's said that insomnia does not exist. The argument is that anyone who is unable to fall asleep has no real need to fall asleep
No small art it is to sleep: it is necessary to keep awake all day for that purpose - Nietzsche

" You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building nests in your hair"
Too late. Need more than one bull-dozer to evict them now!!!

Don't fly away

Friends are like balloons; once you let them go, you might not get them back. Sometimes we get so busy with our own lives and problems that we may not even notice that we've let them fly away. Sometimes we are so caught up in who's right and who's wrong that we forget what's right and wrong. Sometimes we just don't realize what real friendship means until it's too late.
I don't want to let that happen so I'm going to tie all of you to my heart so I’ll never lose you … even those that I think may have flown away…

Happy Nurses' Day

Somebody asked: "You're a nurse?" that's cool, I wanted to do that when I was a kid. How much do you make?"
The nurse replied: "HOW MUCH DO I MAKE?" ...
I can make holding your hand seem like the most important thing in the world when you're scared...
I can make your child breathe when they stop...
I can help your father survive a heart attack...
I can make myself get up at 5AM to make sure your mother has the medicine she needs to live...
I work all day to save the lives of strangers...
I make my family wait for dinner until I know your family member is taken care of...
I make myself skip lunch so that I can make sure that everything I did for your wife today is charted...
I make myself work weekends and holidays because people don't just get sick Monday - Friday. Today, I might save your life.
So how much do I make?
All I know is, I make a difference.
Once a nurse; always a nurse

A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it And none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen, for it is of no value to anyone until it is given away Some people are too tired to give you a smile Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give
so all together now, say 'cheese'

Professor Ernest Brennecke of Columbia is credited with inventing a sentence that can be made to have eight different meanings by placing one word in all possible positions in the sentence, “I hit him in the eye yesterday.” The word is “only”.
1. ONLY I hit him in the eye yesterday. (No one else did.)
2. I ONLY hit him in the eye yesterday. (Did not slap him.)
3. I hit ONLY him in the eye yesterday. (I did not hit others.)
4. I hit him ONLY in the eye yesterday. (I did not hit outside the eye.)
5. I hit him in ONLY the eye yesterday. (Not other organs.)
6. I hit him in the ONLY eye yesterday. (He doesn’t have another eye.)
7. I hit him in the eye ONLY yesterday. (Not today.)
8. I hit him in the eye yesterday ONLY. (Did not wait for today.)

Today is Vesak Day, a celebration of Buddha's birth, enlightenment and death. It's also a day of reflection for all Buddhists
The Ten Good Deeds
1. Do not kill 2. Do not steal 3. Do not indulge in sexual misconduct 4. No lying 5. No double-tongued speech 6. No abusive speech 7. No irresponsible speech 8. No greed 9. No hatred 10. No delusion
The first three are the first three of Five Precepts; these are Body deeds. The last three are the Three Poisons, these are Mind deeds. The remaining four is an elaboration of the evil deeds performed by Speech. Body, speech and mind are the three means of actions.
One of his students asked Buddha, "Are you the messiah?" "No", answered Buddha. "Then are you a healer?" "No", Buddha replied. "Then are you a teacher?" the student persisted. "No, I am not a teacher." "Then what are you?" asked the student, exasperated. "I am awake", Buddha replied.

CULTURAL DIFFERENCE
A little American Indian boy asked his father, the big chief of the tribe, "Father, why is it that we always have long names, while the white men have short names like Bill , Tex or Sam?"
His father replied, "My son, our names represent a symbol, a sign, or a poem in our culture; not like the white men who live all together and merely repeat their names from generation to generation.
For example, your sister's name is Small-Romantic-Moon-Over-The-Lake because on the night she was born, there was a beautiful moon reflected in the lake.
Then there's your brother, White-Horse-of-the-Prairies, because he was born on a day that the big white horse who gallops over the prairies appeared near our camp.
It is a symbol of our capacity to live and the life-force of our people.
It's really very simple and easy to understand.
Do you have any other questions for me, Little-Broken-Condom-Made-In-China?
